We may one day look back and say that 2011 was the beginning of a new era in women’s Jiu-Jitsu. A record number of female competitors at the 2011 world championships in Long Beach (a 30% increase over the previous year) is only one of many reasons why.
The first Abu Dhabi Pro Trials event in the U.S. took place this past weekend in San Antonio Texas. The winner of the all the men’s Brown/Black Belt divisions wins a free trip to compete in the Championships in Abu Dhabi next Spring. For the women’s divisions, only the winner of the Absolute divisions wins the trip.
A relatively new tournament to the IBJJF/CBJJ, the 3rd No-Gi Brazilian Nationals tournament took place in Brazil the weekend before the No-Gi Worlds in the U.S. For those who have been looking for results from the women’s Brown/Black divisions, look no further!
One more road is paved in the world of women’s Jiu-Jitsu.
